1974-1979: Student of Tbilisi State University (Historian)
1980-2007: senior research fellow, Institute of History and Ethnology of the Academy of Science of Georgia, Department of the History of Georgian-European Relations
1984: Doctoral Degree „Anti-Turkish Coalition of the European Countries and Georgia in XV century.”
1992-1995: Member of Parliament of Georgia (Vice speaker of the Faction „Liberals“).
1997-1998: Alexander von Humboldt foundation’s research fellow at Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena (Germany), research topic: “First World War and the problem of restoration of Georgian statehood”
2000-2003: Chef of department for Analyses in the Staff of the Minister for Special Affairs. Since 2003: Founder and supervisor of the Caucasian Institute of Democratic Integration
2003-2010: Main scientific adviser of MMC Multimedia Consult Benders & Söderkamp GmbH München

1990-1998: lectures of History of Georgia and actual political Situation in the former USSR at the Universities of Zürich (1990); Basel (1991); Greifswald (1991); Köln (1993, 1997); Jena (1998).
